Paperspace Dimensions

Please read this carefully.
DIMASSOC=2

When I create paperspace dims and snap thru to modelspace geometry I get proper dims that follow my dimstyle and scale appropriately. Sometimes I copy a dim and use it to dimension something else and this works too. However, if I choose to change the XP value of the viewport, only the dims that were created (not copied) maintain their defpoint relationship to the modelspace geometry. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is.

Please don't tell me to not copy dimensions and YES, I'm sure that I am creating my dimensions in paperspace, that's the "layout" tab for the newbies.

Thanks.

OK, I won't. But could you tell us why you do it? I can't see that copying a
dimension is any faster than creating a new one.

Well, I guess, like so many issues such as this, you must think if it in context. By copying a preexisting dimension, I get the style and properties; in a drawing where multipledim styles exist, copying a dimension is a step saver. Except for the disassociation issue.

Copying a dimension removes its association. If you want your dimension to
update, you'll either have to create it from scratch (with DIMASSOC=2) or
use DIMREASSOCIATE after you copy it.
